The Town Council of the Town of Fowler met in the Town Hall, Fowler, Indiana, on the 16th day of July 2007 at the hour of 4:30 P.M., for a regular meeting pursuant to call in accordance with the rules of the Council. The meeting was called to order by Steve Rettig, who presided. On call of the roll the members of the Council were shown to be present or absent as follows: PRESENT: Nicholas Finley, Gerald Parker, Thomas Sarault, Stephen Rettig Town Attorney, Patrick Ryan ABSENT: Patrick Claire Tom Sarault motioned to accept the minutes as reviewed. Gerry Parker seconded the motion. The motion passed. Tommy Kleckner, director of the western regional office of the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana, is currently conducting historic surveys in Benton County. The Prairie Preservation Guild is sponsoring the survey with introductions to all the town councils and county commission members. The foundation is documenting all historic buildings with integrity 40 years and older to create a publication for inventory. This book will be used to help secure grants and guide residents and business owners in preservation of their properties. A $2,500 commitment from the town was submitted. The council tabled the vote until the next meeting. Brandon Miller, the Benton County Community Representative of the American Cancer Society – Wabash Valley Area Service Center asked if his organization could hold a bucket shake on August 10 from 9 am to 5 pm. They will stand at the corner of 5th and Madison Avenue to solicit monies from the community for the American Cancer Society. The council granted permission. Three estimates were presented for lighting the Welcome to Fowler sign at the southeast edge of Fowler. They are as follows: Leo Electric $725.00 Alvin Budreau Electric $628.10 Allen Hardebeck Electrical, LLC $950.72 Nick Finley motioned to accept the lowest bid with acceptable lighting from Alvin Budreau Electric. Tom Sarault seconded the motion. A question concerning the type of lighting will be investigated and will proceed after contact with three council members in agreement. The motion passed. The LEDO group has taken the southeast sign for their adopt-a-spot. Gerry Parker will get landscaping prices for the northwest sign. Tom Sarault motioned to have the door to the exterior storage room rebuilt. Gerry Parker seconded the motion. The motion passed. It will be done if it is approximately $500. An estimate has been received with a higher door quality included that is not needed. Tom Sarault will meet with the contractor to secure another estimate with the adjusted door pricing. He will give the contractor the go ahead after contacting other council members for approval. Gerry Parker motioned to complete the exterior of the outdoor cold storage room with the same façade as the rest of the town hall. This will seal the exterior walls from moisture and small varmints. Tom Sarault seconded the motion. The motion passed. A motion to pay all voucher and payroll claims by Nick Finley and second by Gerry Parker was approved. There being no further business presented to the meeting, on motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the meeting thereupon adjourned.
